My Art

A composite of four artworks from artist Roger Dickinson

Inspiration and subject matter

My art is thematic, experimental and multilayered, exploring technological change, cultural icons, music, homages to well-known artists, environmental concerns, fantasy and mythology. Key artistic influences include: painters (including René Magritte, Joan Miró, Marcel Duchamp, Andy Warhol, Michael Craig-Martin, Mark Rothko, Jackson Pollock  and Robert Motherwell); photographers (particularly Ansel Adams, Jerry Uelsmann, Pete Turner, Jay Maisel and Minor White); authors (Terry Pratchett, JRR Tolkien, PG Wodehouse and Jasper Fforde); and musicians (Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen and Paul Simon).

Creating my art

My artworks are created through the use of a range of convergent imaging technologies (digital drawing and painting, computing, photography, scanning, etc).  As a life-long photographer, I was always been drawn to hues, textures, form, pattern, tone and line, and these elements accompanied me when I added digital art to my creative pursuits.
